May 18, 2010
Connecticut offers many opportunities to its citizens and families but there are certain system issues that create inequities in family success. The Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies’ members have worked with Connecticut’s families for over a century. The following recommendations for shoring up the foundation for successful Connecticut families come directly from that experience.
Connecticut’s families need:

Child Care

Support Systems
ØServices for families in transition due to poverty, trauma and/or incarceration ØIncreased victim supports ØA child protection system that acknowledges the importance of employed parents ØEarly and easy access to services ØEducational institutions that focus on prevention ØAccessible, reliable, and flexible public transportation statewide
