Prior to accepting the appointment to the Faculty at SHU as Executive in Residence for the new Master’s in Public Administration,  Bill served for the past 32 years at LifeBridge Community Services—23 as Executive Vice President and  9 as President & CEO when he retired in June 2018.

Dr. Hass has held a variety of both clinical and administrative positions throughout his 44-year career in education and human services. His training as a clinical psychologist credentialed him to hold positions of clinical director for a local private school, school psychology consultant for a local residential facility and clinician in private practice.

He has served for six years on the Board of Bridgeport Regional Business Council and as a member of their Government Relations and Transportation Committee, connecting on a quarterly basis with state representatives and other community leaders. He also served for 20 years on the Southwest Regional Mental Health Board, as a member and past President, supporting advocacy and education about mental illness.

With an eye to the broader issues facing nonprofits in Greater Bridgeport and the clients they serve, Bill participates in several key working groups, both locally and statewide. For the past four years, he has been a member of the Governor's Cabinet for Health and Human Services, co-chairing the Business Practice Work Group in order to develop better working relationship between non-profits and state agencies. He is a member and past President of the Rotary club of Bridgeport and a retired member and past President of the CT Council of Family Service Agencies.  Nationally, Dr. Hass was a Peer Reviewer, Team Leader and Commission member for the Council on Accreditation, a national accrediting body for human service organizations.

Dr. Hass holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of CT. He lives with his wife Mary Ellen in Shelton CT.
